Basically there are two fanfic stories I want for Star Trek XI, viz.
1) The long long multi-chaptered story which starts with Uhura at Starfleet Academy and tells us how she meets Spock and how they start getting it on and there could be chapter asides that wouldn't be part of the main story but would be flashbacks, yes, of Spock's childhood and Uhura's childhood and other Important Moments in Their Lives. And then it could deal with the events of the film and it could go on from there and there would be visits to the Vulcan colony and we would follow the development of Uhura's career and Spock's career and sometimes they would fight and perhaps once they could come perilously close to breaking up and make us all want to cry (but of course they wouldn't, or if they did they would get back together within a couple of terrible, endless-feeling chapters -- not actually terrible, I mean, not badly-written, just terrible because of the hideous uncertainty -- of course they will get back together, but what if they don't?). And Spock and Kirk would slowly become friends and there would be chapters on Sulu and Chekov and Bones and Scotty and it would be about all of them. But mostly about Uhura and Spock.
I have just realised, haha, that really I am less a fan of the Star Trek franchise than of Star Trek fanfic, and not just or even mostly slash fanfic, though ST was the fandom that introduced me to slash. (But Due South was the fandom that made me like it -- I really preferred gen with Star Trek.) The story I am describing feels like lots of stories I've read, only not about Uhura and Spock Reboot, obvs. But it would be so great!
2) Crack AU crossover where Hikaru Sulu is a half-Filipino half-Japanese swordfighting gentleman pirate on the South China Sea in the 15th century and then he is lured onto the side of the good by Hang Tuah and ends up fighting crime with Hang Tuah's merry men.
